Onoway & District Fish & Game Association & Gun Club
Onoway Fish & Game operate and maintain Salter's Lake. This lake is stocked annually each spring with rainbow trout by Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. The lake is aerated in order to support the fish population. It is open to the public for fishing all year. Alberta fishing regulations apply. There is a boat launch and pier available for public use and boats with electric motors only are allowed. Salter's Lake is located south of the Town of Onoway on Township 544, 1/2 km east of Range Road 22.
Aerator at Salter’s Lake is shut off for the Winter!
Onoway Fish & Game Club (OFGA) has turned the Aerator off on the morning of November 18, 2015 for the winter season of 2015/2016 for safety reasons. Even though the lake was stocked just 2 months ago with another batch of Rainbow Trout, they have since decided to turn off the aerator for this winter season. Once the lake is frozen, and the danger of this ice is passed, it will be safe to go out on the lake and drill holes and fish for the recently stocked Rainbow. You may want to head out to Salter’s earlier in your ice fishing season to catch your dinner before the lack of oxygen kills the ones not caught!
